Working together for progress, in a spirit of respect, but also with vigilance. This sums up, I think, the work surrounding the new bill I will shortly be introducing in the Senate of Canada.
In recent months, we have seen people fill the streets of faraway countries to call for democracy; many even risked their lives to demand the right to vote. These foreign protests remind us that our democracy is precious and we must respect and protect it at all costs. Our democratic system compels our government to be accountable to the people on a regular basis and ensures that no one is above the law, all while guaranteeing representation for a multitude of views in Parliament.
